Yeah he didn't really give us enough to go on for any specific guesses. It could be literally anything. Hmm..
alittledizzy wrote: I thought perhaps a childhood/school story. I mean, might be a little too close in nature to Dan's last video but Phil went through a phase of using childhood/awkward teenage stuff for video ideas. I'll go ahead and say my totally random baseless guess: awkward story involving teenage Phil and his fursuit mascot outfit, which he needed to recreate and use as an excuse to add to their furry prop collection.
Truuuue, it doesn't need to be recent at all, idk why I assumed that, which just opens it up even more. Maybe Phil got sick of Dan procrastinating and is going to steal his kink video idea right out from under him (though I'm not entirely clear on furry being a kink/interest/lifestyle ). But honestly I wouldn't mind them starting the new YT 'thing' of sharing kinks, since pastel edits didn't take off. Kink Edits IRL would probably get more traction...
swofro wrote:I hope phil will show us new merch #spon. Haha. Otherwise, I also would like phil to do candle haul but since he is waiting for props, that's probably not what it's going to be. I hope it's something funny about going to the dentist or something.

OMG what if they combined the two and got some deal for a limited edition Phandles Collection with a candle company.
'Phandles: a terrible name for terrible scents '
'Stack of Pancs' - pancakes & syrup scented (that one could work)
'Other Peoples Bedsheets' - ..hotel laundry detergent scented
... I can't think of any for Dan except for like.. a dentist's office. No, this is a terrible idea. Nevermind.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

Oh, the scented candle names are brilliant. Phil stealing an idea from a joke Dan's been making and filming a video about kinks or actually being a furry would be way too funny.

example:
Image
if they reject/ ignore you get your bars back but if they open it younow charge you for the amount of bar it cost to send that premium.

alittledizzy i'm not sure why the interaction element of sending premiums became such a big deal for me but i guess at the end of the day it makes me incredibly happy when dan or phil open mine you know? i think the fact they know ~i exist~ in a way, makes me happy since i will most likely never get to meet them and this is the most i could get (plus i live for how dan says my name)
but also, i love sending premiums i know will be "worth the money" in a way? so i try to ask things i know i'd like to hear the answer to i think my best premium was the "does phil usually help you film?" from a few weeks ago? i liked dan's answer to that one!

more rambling under the cut~
just to make my point more clear of when i say it's easier to get dan to open premiums/ talk vs phil here is a list of premiums of mine they've opened (i only started sending them in december since i only got into dnp late october 2016!!)
dan:
- "we apologize for kinkshaming you" 20/15/16 (regarding the reindeers tweet and the fact phil tweeted it iirc)
- "have you watched la la land" + "did you like la la land" 17/01/17 (it was an important thing but i still don't know why he opened 2 similar premiums of mine ahh!!!)
- "how was your weekend" + "play monopoly on dapg" 24/01/17 (the monopoly one granted a full minute and a half of rambling which was nice thank u dan!!)
- "does phil usually help you film vids?" + "is your wrist and knee okay?" + "will you ever use the @DanHowell user?" 08/02/17 (both the filming and DanHowell answers were good im glad i sent these!)
- "you: a soft pastel prince" + "the pastel video made me so happy" + "you INVENTED being soft" 15/02/17 (i'm a soft/pastel!dan trash don't mind me)
- "you look beautiful i love you" 21/02/17 (his answer to this was p much just him saying we established that i (or we as an audience??) only like this AU pastel version of him) (i think he was @ing me though bc of all the pastel premiums from the week prior A Girl Can Dream)
- "what's up with the stay hydrated comments" + "who usually cooks you or phil?" 07/03/17 (he got distracted with the stay hydrated one i was afraid he won't answer it haha)

so we see that dan is okay with opening things that will get him to ramble, share an opinion or give a domestic insight on how he and phil do life

now let's move to phil:
- "when will you get a dog" 12/01/17
- "what's your birthday plans?" 26/01/17
- "make more ditl style videos please" 02/02/17
- "i started a new job today :D" 09/02/17 (phil was right i was and still am p happy with my new job haha)

so with phil he opened stuff that can get him to answer but still keep the more vague vibe he gives when sharing and still pretty general compared to dan, in my opinion, at least
so yeah, i'm going to keep sending "domestic" premiums and hope they get opened because i really love and enjoy hearing and getting those glimpses onto their lives and dynamic
It does seem as though you've had actual interaction with them with that many premiums answered!

I'd say that when watching back on YouTube (which doesn't have any of the YouNow stuff on it, just the video stream), it doesn't seem as though there are very many premium messages that get answered during the course of an hour. I guess I'll have to pay more attention to that next time I watch.

I only watch the live shows on YouTube so the whole premium message/top fans thing is a bit lost on me. I wonder how many premiums they answer during the show and whether they have to do a certain number...is it expensive to do premium messages? I've got a few questions I'd love to ask but am too tight to pay much for the privilege!

Hurry up Phil!

I would totally buy a Phandle...I drive my family mad with my obsession with scented candles :shame:

Sounds like prime time for a return of sciencePhil. I'm sure Phil can make it funny and interesting either way.

Edit: we were talking about Dan? He'd do it well too. I dunno, both are good. I feel too weird for boredom right now, but a new video would be fun whenever it happens.

lishachi, your entire post about younow and exactly how it works was fascinating. I knew a lot of it but not all of it.

Quoting a thread on earnings from back in January that estimated how much Dan and Phil earn per show. The posts discussing it a few months ago said that younow takes 30% of earnings. I also feel like it's not out of the realm of possibility for Dan and Phil to be paid a flat fee from younow on top of that. I know most broadcasters aren't, but deppy pretty much make that site.

Yeah I just looked and 6500 bars = £50.

I just looked on dans younow profile and it lists the top 3 fans. the top fan has bought 130,500 bars which equals about £1000. One of them, between both dan and Phil's profile has bought approximately 150,000 bars which equals £1150.
On the topic of Dan and Phil candles, omg, I want this to happen now. I'm surprised someone in phandom hasn't already tried to work some capitalism magic with an etsy shop.

thanks! it fascinated me too. i woke up and read some of what you guys were saying and was like damn i need to research.

now that you mention it, i wouldn't be surprised either because dan and phil pull in a lot of viewers compared to others. they're always top trending and top on viewers, if they got a flat fee i would not be surprised. that photo i inserted said the person earned $17.60 after 1k viewers and half an hour of streaming. 10k likes, too. now imagine for instance, dan gains around anything from 10k-30k viewers on average (from what i've seen each week recently) streams for more often than not a bit longer than an hour and gains around 150-200k likes. obviously it's very hard to estimate as it depends on more than this, but lets just say that they're earning a fair amount each week. multiple that by 4, once a week for 4 weeks in a month and a possible flat fee too they're probably getting a pretty good income from younow alone. plus youtube (mainly dapg at this point but they're probably still gaining from re-watches of other popular semi-recent videos too) they are not shy of money. (although this isn't news lol)
also @missemma that's ridiculous, £1000!!! shit that's half of my student loan
sorry for little ramble again!

those candles sound amazing

These are all wonderful. Gotta love when we're bored

Also I just bought the Tetris light from Firebox and they have every unicorn thing Phil bought for the pastel edits plus every present he bought for his friend's birthday. The site asked where I'd heard of them so I pointed them to the pastel edits video. I'm sure everyone concerned would thank me.

just to make my point more clear of when i say it's easier to get dan to open premiums/ talk vs phil here is a list of premiums of mine they've opened (i only started sending them in december since i only got into dnp late october 2016!!)

Just something I'm curious about, and obviously you don't have to reply; the questions you send, are they usually within the first few seconds when the amount is under the 2000 bars that the maximum is? Or are most questions answered 2000 bars? I used to send premiums and had a few answered but since the amount of bars required went up I don't bother anymore as I found Dan in particular doesn't answer them unless they're around the maximum amount.

Also I'm a bit late to this discussion, I'm surprised his Nan made a comment about the vagina reply, shouldn't she be more concerned about her grandsons swearing haha! I wonder if she ever tells him off for the amount of filth that comes from that mouth of his!

Not directed at me, but anecdotal comment/speculation incoming: I don't think he chooses questions based on the bar amount. When I still bothered sending in questions to them (when the max was like 400 bars? or maybe it was 1200? Before it was 2000 anyway, because yeah, fuck that), I always snuck them in right at the beginning so they were cheaper and the only 2 Dan has ever answered from me were those ones. Based on how Chris's shows go (I'm sorry he's my only other reference point for literally anything I talk about sigh), the most recent question is at the top of whatever they're looking at. Because Chris seems to work his way down the list of premium questions and his shows (sometimes) are more of a back and forth conversation than just a waterfall of unrelated questions, so you can kind of get a sense of the order he's receiving them and when he gets to the end (which he can actually do since his audience is much smaller), the last questions seem to be the earliest sent. If I phrased that properly... hopefully you get what I mean. So with Dan/Phil I can only imagine there's a constant stream of new premium questions coming in, and it hits the max within a few seconds of them going live (cost of premiums (to a max of 2000) goes up with the amount of people watching), so they're mainly seeing the most recent (therefore most expensive) questions. And if the PMs are like the chat with the constant scrolling, then maybe it's too much hassle to scroll down to the earlier/cheapest questions. All speculation since I don't know exactly what they're seeing on their end. But yeah, the amount of cheap questions there are, compared to max cost questions, is probably pretty small. I don't think that would affect him accepting or declining it. Most likely he doesn't even see most of them before they're buried.

Phase 2 of the idb candle business: candle hauls on younow to really figure out that site.

The only reason I made that comment is because I used to send premiums and always got them in before it got to 80 bars (when the max was 400) and every time I sent one, it got answered. Also, the questions would get answered quite early on so I guess I assumed they scrolled to the first comments and worked up the list. Maybe that's different now though! Things may have changed when they updated younow. thank you for explaining how it works on chris' show though.
I wonder if they get less messages now that the maximum amount has literally 5 folded in price or if it's still the same.
