So again: 11/10 for a video that I will be rewatching multiple times.![]()

I thoroughly enjoyed Phil's slime video. His voice is incredibly soothing and actually made me feel pleasantly drowsy during that close-up portion. Just a satisfying video overall and definitely appreciated the weird stain comment, cocaine comparison, and "I'm going insane".
He dirtied the cup scoop when he could have just doubled the half cup smh. What a giddy goat.

Phil was full of beans today, it was fun to watch. I wasn't expecting much, as in something "different", but for a slime video it was pretty darn cute. I like the "adult" jokes as other people do. It's funny how Phil is supposed to be a "family friendly" kind of video, about this zany guy called the Amazing Phil, who makes slime. He's pretty cool, the kids like him, but did he just make a joke about unicorn semen?
Still, I don't think it would be a Phil video without his particular sense of humor. His subtlety at times, that gets shit under the radar, how he can pass off a "hard drugs" joke with a cheeky smile. This particular video was so much fun, it felt messy somehow in a way because he left in a lot of his more offbeat comments and word flubs. It all made him seem more energetic somehow.
I hate to bring up phanfic right now, especially in this sanctuary. I don't mean to turn into a YouTube comment, but I hope I'm not the only one who thought of the skin fic when Phil made his joke? Peeling skin and all that. I know it's gross and all but peeling glue off your skin feels amazing, everyone should do it. I used to just paint glue on a plastic ruler, let it dry, then peel it off for the feeling. I recommend it. It's very therapeutic, and patience is key for waiting until it dries. This is a weird post.
He seems to be bringing back that guinea pig, or it was probably just incidental. I know rodents as a whole are probably quite widely panned as animals go, and that hamsters have a bad rep in the phandom because of phanfics, but I do wonder if a hamster/that plastic guinea pig would be a good mascot for Phil and Dan? Or even just Phil? It is a bit specific and potentially too "childish" but it has an integral part of some of their videos and has always been there. I think it would be too cheesy, but anything sounds better than using a Japanese font on everything.

i loved this video and laughed out loud several times but i kept getting a sad vibe?? but now that i've read the responses here maybe i was just picking up on him being less persona-y. and tbh the sad vibe?? low energy vibe? or whatever isn't a negative thing for me either. i genuinely loved everything about this video so much. i'll definitely watch it again later.
You weren't, I said the same thing and I'm so glad I'm not alone. Serious war flashbacks.000dia000 wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 2:44 am I hate to bring up phanfic right now, especially in this sanctuary. I was re-watching the video, and I noticed weird editing errors. This doesn't reveal anything except for mistakes in production being covering over by sequencing shots in a slightly strange way. Idk. ignore this probably.

Just my two cents, lots of it has been mentioned by others already but I have to express my delight or burst. I love this easygoing, cheeky Phil. I just wanna take him home and make him tea and play with slime with him. I think I liked this so much because he seemed to be having so much fun with it! The you're not my real parents thing, the so-very-subtle-and-yet-totally-not bowl joke, that crazy look in his eye when he talked about a full body glue peel... I feel like weird Phil was coming out to play, and that's a huge part of why I adore him. He's like me (hell he's probably a lot weirder) and it makes me feel safe and not alone and so appreciative of his odd, charming humor. God I love this man.

I loved Phil's video! Hope I'll find the time to rewatch it today. He was just so funny with the "not my real parents" bit and the average sized GIAT cereal bowl.
But I totally lost it at the guinea pig, long time no see!
I've never watched a slime video before and honestly wasn't expecting much. But I really liked Phil's take on it.
Also, what's up with Dan, replying to almost every tweet from Phil lately? I'm not used to that!
But I love it, somehow seems like they feel safe interacting/showing affection in general lately

I'm just glad to know I am not the only one to notice!!vortexofphan wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2017 7:26 pmI noticed that too. Of their last 6 videos only 1 has reached a million views. I'm sure some will reach it, and obviously 900k is not a low number of views in any sense, but it is lower than when they were getting 1.5-2 million views a game and 3 mil+ on the crazy popular ones. I don't if this means anything, or if July and August are just low viewership months :Shrug:FandomLurker wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2017 2:06 am Does it seem like the views on their gaming videos is decreasing? Am I just being paranoid? I don't really get why this has been on my mind but has been annoying/bothering me.

(I've never seen a slime video and don't know what to expect, but I guess it can't be as gross as the ebay mystery packages? Right???)
Yay! I could use a video. I don't think it will be gross. At the very least you know what is going into the slime, versus a strangers hair and general stickiness so that should help.

Oh no Phil, if DanandPhilCRAFTS has taught you anything, then that you don't mess with glitter
! They call it the herpes of crafting for a reason... you'll never get rid of it. I hope he at least shook out the sheets and towels before stuffing them into the machine. ... Clean the filter maybe? IDK, not a washing machine expert
I just rewatched the video and I really like it! I do agree with 000dia000 though, there's some odd editing but I guess if you only have two hands and one camera on a tripod, that's how you have to do it. Please more Phil vs. Science, or rather, Phan vs. Vulcano?

This was interesting! And thanks, especially for all this data collection. I love stuff like this but suck at collecting it. Its nice to look at views and that side of their content differently.drearyquery wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2017 8:53 pm This is probably going to get lost in slime video discussion but I was bored and curious about people suggesting the gaming channel has lost views so I've typed some stuff up. Hopefully someone will find it interesting?
In the last 6 months there have been 41 gaming videos. (I'm counting the first one as my horse prince #2 which was uploaded March 1)
6 have not broken 1 millions views but 4 of those are just their 4 most recent videos.
Last year between August 1st and September 3rd they uploaded 5 videos with one not breaking 1 million (the monster legends spon). This year in roughly the same amount of time they've uploaded 8 videos with 5 not breaking 1 million.
Obviously many of their videos will continue to gain views and soon break 1 million so I don't think you can say they're overall losing attention. I almost wonder with them uploading more videos that are longer or part of a series (dream daddy, sims, golf) it's just harder for the audience to keep up and watch or rewatch all of their uploads.
Also according to Social Blade their monthly views are not at the highest (which was December 2016 and February/March 2017) but they still have overall growth with about 15M total views in July. They're also experiencing less subscriber growth but that makes sense as their main base followed early on and they haven't been playing tons of trendy stuff that will pick up new viewers.
Tldr; as other have pointed out nothing to worry about but they're positing much more frequently than last year
In hindsight, I think Dan adopted a lot of Phil's early editing style. However, Dan usually prefers a very tightly edited approach, where nowadays Phil leaves a bit of breathing room in his videos and there wasn't a lot of that in this.
About Tabs - I feel like they are using her as a piggy bank which kinda sucks but at the same time is unusual reversal of the traditional roles and she is the primary breadwinner while Dil is the caretaker.
Loved the slime video, I feel like he could have done a bit more with the close ups of the slime but it was just glorious. One of my favour AP videos for a while.
Reading the sims posts, so surprised people want more focus on Tabitha lol I couldn't give a stuff about her, she's a generic game character that we all have on our standard installs and I'm kinda hoping she dies off soon tbh. I love Dil but I'm really waiting for generation #2 with a grown up Dab, possibly having babies with Evan. I'm pretty sure Dil had some romantic energy with a male sim in the early days of the series and they disallowed it so I'd be totally on board for that haha.
Randomly, I'm really ready for a DITL. And I feel like we won't get it because they don't want to share the new place. It's a shame they didn't have more time in Edinburgh and couldn't do a little something there. Opportunity missed. As self aware as both boys are, they both seem bemused and oblivious to how much their audience want to see them when they're not doing scripted videos or filming something that's going to be heavily edited, I'm surprised they've kept on with the liveshows as long as they have tbh and I hope the gaming streams indicate that they're finally getting a clue that a lot of the phandom would like the opportunity to invest in them on a more casual basis. It just seems that terrifies them both, Dan in particular.

I loe Phil. This is one of my favourite AP videos now
I don't have anything else to add, you guys already mentioned everything. I now need a side channel video of him playing with the slime without talking because I love asmr and the noises slime makes.

[Offtopic]I really feel like baking today; has anyone here tried using the Halloween baking recipes and replicated them (more) successfully? I'm especially considering the brownie (minus graveyard) or the Pumpkin cookies. [/Offtopic]

I tried the brownies once and I fucked up. I don't know what I did wrong but Deppy actually succeeded when making them.LtrllySusan wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 10:06 am [Offtopic]I really feel like baking today; has anyone here tried using the Halloween baking recipes and replicated them (more) successfully? that's another way to see it, but then i'd just like for them to acknowledge it from time to time? if they did a some bants in the line of "let's make her do something fun while dil feeds the kids, she's earning all our money after all" i'd be appeased. i know they sometimes joke about spending the money, but it seems to me like 90% of the commentary she gets is "the fuck is she doing" or "lol she's stinky", which, i mean, fair, but.sentinel wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 8:24 amAbout Tabs - I feel like they are using her as a piggy bank which kinda sucks but at the same time is unusual reversal of the traditional roles and she is the primary breadwinner while Dil is the caretaker.
of course we're still discussing sims, not original characters in a show deps are writing, so tabitha's (lack of) "storyline" is not The Worst Thing. plus, i doubt most people are watching and enjoying it because they deeply care about the sims. however, with the way deppy are playing, i.e. trying to maintain a continuous development and more or less realistic family life while speaking fondly about them, it still seems somewhat necessary, at least to me, to care the slightest bit about the sims and to want to see where they're going with them. i just feel like tabs is a lost opportunity to make these sims more interesting again, idk.
i made the pspcs last year and they came out fine. my only complaint is that i had to check like five stores in order to buy molasses and now own a gigantic jar of it.LtrllySusan wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 10:06 am [Offtopic]I really feel like baking today; has anyone here tried using the Halloween baking recipes and replicated them (more) successfully? their brownie recipe is now my standard go-to recipe. I've made it several times, and although the last time it didn't go that great, I've also had times where it was actually the best brownie I've ever had, and I'm not even exaggerating. There have been times where people asked me for the recipe. I haven't tried any of the other ones though.LtrllySusan wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 10:06 am [Offtopic]I really feel like baking today; has anyone here tried using the Halloween baking recipes and replicated them (more) successfully? Well, so much for saying something new but I also adored Phil's new video
Pretty much everything's already been said but yeah this video was such a great mix of Phil being his best, weird & natural self, great moments, mature humour and also the slime itself at the end was really cool, I loved that bit of him playing with it and how it glowed in the dark, would have loved an entire side channel vid of that !! (this should have been his ASMR video)
There's just something about witnessing Phil being genuinely happy or excited about something that makes me in turn feel extra happy too, idk he's just charismatic like that.
Something that also makes me enjoy his videos a lot, sometimes more than dinofs, is that he doesn't 'set up' his jokes ? like he's just talking, makes a joke then moves on so fast that if you're not paying attention you don't even realize he just said the funniest thing ever ? (especially with dirty jokes, I often have to go back and be like wait did he just say that?? His poker face is incredible too)
I guess that's personal but sometimes it puts me off when in sketches or scripted videos, you can feel a joke coming from miles away and there's a certain moment where you're expected to laugh, it can feel too forced for me (Dan sometimes does this even with jokes that aren't scripted).
Sorry, I don't know if I'm being very clear but basically Phil is so naturally funny and I love how he goes about it

I've made the monster pops and that goes really, really well - you need less chocolate than they use, you need to dip the sticks in chocolate first before you put them in the balls, and chill the balls in the fridge for at least 30 mins before you attempt to dip them - apart from thatLtrllySusan wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 10:06 am [Offtopic]I really feel like baking today; has anyone here tried using the Halloween baking recipes and replicated them (more) successfully? Agreed, I also love that he's added Phil in his listed channels (only one there with DAPG and dini) and been replying to him non-stop, like he also posted his twitter reply about clothes being full of glitter in the comments on youtube lmao that's dedication.FandomLurker wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 7:44 amDan has been all up in his twitter and Phil could not be bothered and I am LIVING for Dan's twitter interactions with Phil.Marika wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 5:59 am

It's just funny that even on the internet (like the one place where you can literally talk to anyone) and on top of already being in their little bubble irl, Dan somehow still chooses to almost only interact with Phil
at least the monster pops produced a good outcome on your end. Their end result was so terrible, I wasn't even sure if I should attempt the recipesparkle wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 11:30 amI've made the monster pops and that goes really, really well - you need less chocolate than they use, you need to dip the sticks in chocolate first before you put them in the balls, and chill the balls in the fridge for at least 30 mins before you attempt to dip them - apart from thatLtrllySusan wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 10:06 am [Offtopic]I really feel like baking today; has anyone here tried using the Halloween baking recipes and replicated them (more) successfully? Agreed. To be honest, sims in general don't really have that much personality, but Dil is the protagonist and has been here since the beginning, and Dab and Dalien are children, which are just generally more interesting in the sims than adults. I'm mostly watching the sims for Dab and Dalien now.human wrote: Sun Sep 03, 2017 9:57 am
