After further analysis the signature looks like it could say ':Danisnotonfire'. Which is it? ':Dan Howell' or ':Danisnotonfire'? Based on the context it would make more sense that it's his username which is printed below. Phil and Pj also signed using their usernames. This begs the question of whether Dan would sign a piece of paper in his and Phil's house using his username. To me it quite clearly says "Dan H" at least. Then I think the two tall things are the two l's and it's followed by some kind of odd scribble. True that there's no colon before the D on The Rules, but I assume that's just an embellishment he adds when signing for fans. This was from 2012 so he probably hadn't developed his current ":DAN" signature; he just used his regular signature and added a :.

I've seen those reactions in other places too, and idk it's probably that a) they're kids and b) people who get into fandoms tend to be introverted, so some of them might just have lived a shy and "sheltered" life where alcohol is a very unfamiliar topic, and it might seem quite scary if you associate all of the states of being drunk with being very drunk (like, thinking someone turns into a whole different person after just one drink). I really thought it was Dan Lester. What is with the scribble after the last L?! My initial reaction to this was "maybe because the 10-12year olds watching these vids in the USA are still a decade away from being able to drink legally" but then I saw the UK was being lumped into it. I don't know, in honesty. I suppose a lot depends on what these kids are seeing. In my country the most popular local Youtubers have a pretty young audience and while drinking when underage (and alcohol in general lol) is a huge thing here, the comments always seem very innocent in that regard. They also complain if they hear swearwords, and get confused if someone mentions sex. It always seems a bit weird for me since I've found those things "natural" throughout my teenage years and so have all of my friends, but people grow up with different backgrounds and different levels of education with these things.
Anyway, apart from the young age, these kids probably also been brainwashed a lot by the "angel bean purest sunshine cinnamon roll" Phil, they got used to putting him on a pedestal and treat him like a Saint. In their minds he doesn't swear, he doesn't drink, he likes sweets and hugs plushie animal to go to sleep every night. While we are eagerly wanting to see Phil behave like a man of his age, these kids are perfectly satisfied with his over grown man boy peter pan persona. That's why this year before Phil's birthday ppl on tumblr are saying they can't accept the fact that Phil is turning 29. On the other hand Dan drinks and swears but nobody gives a shit because Dan isn't a cinnamon roll he is internet homo.
