Ooh, I actually really like the name Bella for a pet! One of my best friend's horses is named Bella. I guess it depends on the name, because some human names do work (again, this is all just based off my opinion lol). I think if it's just a really, really common name that has no meaning aside from being a name, it's weird to hear. Like Colin, or Hannah, or Steve. Although I would totally name a frog or turtle Steve; it's so generic it's funny.Ablissa wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 9:34 pm In my country, it's quite common to name dogs and cats with human names. I've had two dogs with names like that (adopted, so they already had names when I got them). I admit it's a little weird, but it's so funny too, hearing a human name being frantically called out on the street, only to find out they're yelling at their dog.![]()

I guess Colin isn't a very common name for a dog, I've never seen one called that, but there are a lot of dogs named Chloe or Bella or whatever, which are common human names.
To not make this totally off topic, I guess Dan played no part in naming Colin? How old is Colin now?
But now that you mention it, Chloe does seem to be a common dog name where I live, too. Not incredibly common, but I'm pretty sure I've met more dog-Chloes than I have human-Chloes.
And yeah, he probably didn't name Colin. @kavat said Colin might've been adopted? I feel like I might've heard that somewhere, but I might just be creating false memories since she mentioned it lol

Names and naming things are one of my favorite things if I could name more children without having them I would. Growing up we had a dog named Buffy (my family got her just before I was born so before BTVS). I was passed on a rabbit named Holly (became Mr. Holly when we caught him humping a plush rabbit). Shortly after my husband and I got together we adopted a kitten and named it Pandora (soon shortened to Pan before his trip to the vet). We named our chickens Amelia, Clara, Victoria, Cornelia, Morgaine, Nettie, Pema, Snow and Baby. (I also have future names planned for sheep: Mabel, Maude, Hazel and Quincy). So while I like human names I prefer them to be historic, nature or myth based. I wouldn’t name a dog Jessica, but I wouldn’t call my child that either. However I would name a daughter or a ewe Hazel
I’m pretty sure that Phil and/or Dan have mentioned they prefer human names for pets. Norris, Phoebe and Suki (or was it Sookie?) are all nice and quirky.

I once literally bumped into MADONNA. while she was on tour. Just here for the marketing skills
I love the name Colin for Dan's family dog, it suits him perfectly! My dog (a springer/lab cross) is called Phoebe (middle name Isabel) and my cat is called Bonnie (middle name Victoria). Previous cat was called Susie (Susan Elizabeth) and our fish was called Bernard! My husband's family dogs were called Nicholas and Judy

And yes, I only got Christmas and Boxing Day off, was back at work on Wednesday but don’t mind, I’d rather be at work than outside with the general public rushing to buy “bargains” haha.
Yup, totally agree with you. There have been so many instances of people who met them previously saying “I just stepped out of work and they were there” etc but the background of the photo tells the real truth haha! It’s funny seeing an area you know well and someone says they were “just there” when you know full well they were there looking for deps. In other news, I have seen a few people on twitter today saying they are bored that deps aren’t uploading. Is it just me who isn’t bored (yet)? I still have content to catch up on. What do people think it will be like when 2018 starts? I assume for the first few months they’re going to be busy rehearsing for the tour! I know they said it’ll be improvised but I don’t believe that and think some of it will be staged. When the tour starts will we get a tatinof USA drought? These tour dates are much closer together and are continuous - tatinof has breaks inbetween. Does anyone think they’ll be better this time and they will pre-film content this time? I must admit I’m kinda worried but hoping to be proved wrong. There’s only so many peace sign selfies you can be interested in!
Just one last thing, the IDB merch site will be closing in 3 days so if anyone wants to grab something do so soon, we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out. I was thinking, if anyone did get merch please post some photos it would be lovely to see what people got and their opinions on it. Once the shop is closed and we have worked out how much has been made we will give you an update on how much is being donated to charity too
I feel like I remember hearing stories of people who met them at airports later admitting they bought tickets just to be there at the same time as Dan and Phil. Lots of fans can be super stalkery and try to track down where Dan and Phil will be so they'll get photos.Ablissa wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 9:42 pmI agree, especially at airports and places like that, or outside their old apartment. To add an unrelated anecdote, I ate dinner at a restaurant one time only to look a few tables over and realize Hannah Hart was there. Gave me a heart attack.

When they did tatinof in Dublin we saw Deppy in the airport on the way back to London (luckily we weren’t on the same flight as them because ugh #anxiety) but we didn’t approach them. Just got our coffee and sat far far away from them (in a separate area, we couldn’t even see them) just because it felt so weird. We didn’t plan it at all so co-incidences do happen for sure but the majority are definitely planned.
Yeah, I definitely didn't mean to say that meeting them in the wild never happens on accident! Just a lot of the time, I guess, especially at airports when it's known they'll be travelling. I can't put my finger on it, sometimes it just seems like the person didn't "get lucky", more like they made the luck happen.
I don't know if I would approach them if I saw them in real life somewhere. They're coming to my city (Warsaw) in June, and if I do see them, I think I might come up to them, because it would be my one and only chance. I don't think they will ever come here again. But I am meeting them during their tour, so maybe I would just leave them be and wait for my 30 seconds of joy during the M&G.
Then again, my ideal deppy irl interaction - and a dream that won't come true - would be a regular conversation with them, because they genuinely seem like interesting people. I don't think you can get that during a M&G, that could only happen if you were to meet them somewhere else.
This turned into a ramble, sorry
And I'm sorry if someone did have a lovely chat with them during a M&G, I have never met them, so I am just assuming based on how fast it's over and that there is a plan to it, as opposed to a random conversation out of nowhere.

Yeah, I never used to actually get involved in fandoms, just kinda watch from the outskirts happily. I lurked here for about a year before I finally decided to actually start posting; I've only been posting for about a month or two, but it already feels like a lot longer haha. I do wonder what you longtime posters think of lurkers - do you find it creepy or whatever?missemma wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 10:43 pmYay, I always love seeing when someone says they used to be a lurker and now they post. (Offtopic, but I kind of regret now watching from the outside for so long, in other fandoms too; I enjoyed it at the time, but then over time so many people who were actually involved made such good connections, friendships, etc. and I can't help being a bit jealous. Anyone else do the same kind of thing as me / feel the same way?)
Haha good point! But I mean, I would have just been sleeping in and doing pretty much nothing instead of rushing around for boxing week shopping, but I feel you. The good thing is the much quicker commutes this week with a quarter of the people working! And yes, I only got Christmas and Boxing Day off, was back at work on Wednesday but don’t mind, I’d rather be at work than outside with the general public rushing to buy “bargains” haha.
I agree with this for the most part. There are definitely people that do just happen to bump into them, but I think most try to find them. I don't really get it personally because I think the whole forced 2-second conversation and quick selfie thing is pretty awkward and not something I'd want any part in, but to each their own. The only "famous" person I've ever met is a popular ex nhl hockey player, which was completely accidental (his daughter was playing in the same hockey tournament as me). I've never actually tried to meet anyone famous, so it's just not something that I personally get. I think if I were to meet someone like deppy, I'd want it to be completely casual and coincidental.Yup, totally agree with you. I haven't gotten bored quite yet since I've been busy with xmas celebrations (plus, I think it helps that we are working and not on vacation, so we don't have the same free time that maybe a lot of people on twitter do?) I think the beginning of 2018 will be slow (january is usually the slowest for all youtubers isn't it? Lowest adsense?), but hopefully it won't be too bad. I agree that there will for sure be staged parts - I think they kind of implied that, like there will be a certain structure with some staged things, and then opportunities for interaction and improvisation mixed within. I really hope they've planned better this time and pre-filmed more stuff. And didn't one of them (I think Dan?) mention something about ideas they were working on for content while on tour? I can't remember the exact quote. We'll see though. I love those boys, but I don't exactly trust them hahaIn other news, I have seen a few people on twitter today saying they are bored that deps aren’t uploading. Is it just me who isn’t bored (yet)? I think the most famous person I've ever met is Patty Walters, who I met on the street D&P used to live on, and then when I was travelling home from London the day after I found out I had had breakfast about 50 metres away from where Gerard Way had spent the morning.
Or the time I literally almost ran into Jessica Simpson at JFK. Or when I met one of my favourite comedians ever on a beach in Spain...
or when I met TomSka
(Also I'm glad I missed the discussion about Dans parents - I relate too hard lmao)

I work pretty close to the theater where they'll be performing in my city, and I think if I saw them just walking around (obviously not busy or looking rushed) I think I would approach them as I don't have m&g tickets-at least I would if I dont chicken out, as I have done in the past haha.Ablissa wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 11:36 pm Yeah, I definitely didn't mean to say that meeting them in the wild never happens on accident! I always find it crazy how far people will go to meet a famous person. Vancouver has often been dubbed "North Hollywood" and so much stuff gets filmed here that it's really not that big of a deal when people run into someone famous, and I know I'm very privileged to be able to say that, as well as how snobby that came off to be, which I don't mean for it to sound that way at all.
Anyway, the point I'm getting at is that when Riverdale was first being filmed here a couple years ago, literally thousands of girls were gathered at this hotel in downtown Vancouver because someone found out Cole Spouse was staying in it. My friend and I walked past it and honestly it was quite creepy. It sucks that famous people have to deal with that, but I guess it's all apart of the package
Also to add on, I got a tattoo in July and I went to the place I usually go to, so it wasn't like I was asking for this, but I brought some friends with me and after I sat down the artist asked us if we watched Riverdale. Of course a couple of my friends freaked out, espcially after the guy said that they filmed some scenes in the shop about 20 mins before we came. Idk I guess what I'm getting at is fan culture is weird and complicated, and it gets especially messy in cities like Vancouver where celebrities are always out and about, making fan culture somewhat intensified.
omg this was a long ramble whoops

Am I the only one who has no desire to meet them? I mean, if I knocked them over on the sidewalk I'd help them up and apologize but the thought of actually talking to them? No thanks! Nothing intelligent would come out of my mouth, I'd babble something like "I love rambling about you on the interent but in a non-creepy way, I promise! Oh yeah, I also think you're adorable Phil. Byeeeeeeee!"

That's one of the things I'm most curious about too - that and also how much the performance will truly differ from show to show. Given that they don't currently do completely improvised content, the pretty relentless touring schedule so far (with more dates still to be added), and also how much they like control of what they're putting out there (which, fair enough), I'd be surprised if each show is largely improvised....but it'd be cool if it is and everyone gets something completely different and fresh.missemma wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 10:43 pm In other news, I have seen a few people on twitter today saying they are bored that deps aren’t uploading. I've just been re-watching, to refresh my memory, what they said about this when they were asked
- "what script" "no"
- "it's going to have a loose plan"
- "it's not going to be a sketch"
- "there are going to be some little planned bits, but like one of my videos it's going to be more bullet points "
- "the whole point of this Interactive Introverts concept is that it's completely in your hands within the fun ideas/framework we have planned"

I don't really interact with Dan and Phil stuff on any other social media, pretty much just on here. We're all pretty sane here i think, so sometimes i forget how creepy the rest of the phandom can be. Like how can you not feel like a literal stalker going through the effort to figure out where they're going to be then wait around for hours just looking for them? I feel bad for them that they have to deal with that stuff, it must suck that they have to worry about that every time they go out in public (especially being self proclaimed introverts and im p sure have social anxiety?) No wonder Dan says he has mild agoraphobia.
I always thought that if I were lucky enough to run into them in public (which is like never going to happen since I live in the midwest in America -- I'm going to have to drive 4 hours to see them on tour next year) that I don't think I would ask for a picture. To me it would be more about just meeting them, and taking a picture seems kind of awkward to me. I'd be more happy to just say hi and maybe have a quick conversation with them if it was an appropriate setting (and probably get hugs from them cause i'm trash oops
)
In regards to content during the tour, I'm secretly hoping that they might vlog -- it seems like that would be an easier source of content rather than having to pre-film a bunch of stuff. I know it's super unlikely that will happen -- MAYBE they'll bless us with one ditl. But a girl can dream.

Oh god don't even tease me with the idea of them daily vlogging. I would be more excited for that than the actual tour. I could never see them daily vlogging though. One ditl is like the most we could hope for. I'll try to aim a little higher and suggest they vlog little clips and post them every week in a single video every week, or every month (like a week in the life or month in the life). I think that's completely high dreaming though, and I'd just be setting myself up for disappointment. I do hope since they don't have to save everything for DAPGO this tour, that we'll get a lot more pictures and updates along the way. *fingers crossed*KatjaZoe wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 12:38 amI am definitely feeling the content drought after getting spoiled all december, personally. Re: Meeting deppy "accidentally" - We've pretty much all concluded that a lot of people don't accidentally stumble upon them and there is some stalking going on. But on a positive note, at least there doesn't seem to be anyone as extreme as a Stalker Sarah or Boopsy in this fandom so that's a good thing (at least not that I'm aware of - are there any infamous fans like that in this fandom?). I try not to judge people, but that's just way too extreme for me.

Same and it's not exclusive to Dan and Phil if I came across them in the wild. I'd just feel awkward and bad for bothering them and then cringe forever at the memory of what I'm sure would be an awkward interaction.CapriciousCrab wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 12:17 am Am I the only one who has no desire to meet them? Even without the invasive and awkward factors though I just don't have any real desire to meet them. I remember when I was younger friends going to meet and greets for bands we both loved and instead of feeling jealous I always never got why they wanted to spend a fortune to queue for ages and for a selfie and a quick hi with a celebrity. It just does not appeal to me at all.
Yeah a lot of the people who randomly "bump" into them are clearly stalking however I do believe coincidences can happen and some people are genuine.human wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 9:39 pmIn my opinion, about 95% of the time when people "bump" into the boys, it's on purpose and they know the boys are likely to be there. I don't believe in those sort of coincidences hahaha, me thinks peeps tell a few porkies to sound "cooler" or less stalkery.yellowsubmarine wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2017 4:31 pm It just blows my mind that people can just run into Dan and/or Phil in the streets of London.
I once spotted Harry Styles twice in one day. I saw him in a coffee shop in the morning and then much later in the day while stuck in traffic in a completely different area to the coffee shop I spotted him again talking to someone on the street. Considering I've never seen anyone really famous before or since then that was a really weird coincidence.

Re: Dan's cake - lmao, I find it hilarious that it went viral and so many people are roasting him skdjhiksdhfk. Although I will say the cake doesn't look that bad, especially for a homemade vegan cake as those can be really difficult to make. Coconut, raspberry and praline sounds delicious to me though, despite maybe not looking so hot.
And I actually really love Colin as a dog's name - I'm a huge fan of ordinary human names on pets as I think it's so hilarious. Like, imagine a cat called Jeffrey or Deborah or like, Greg shjdfkd, how is that not the funniest thing ever. My friend's dogs names are Barry and Sharon and it kills me every time, it's literally so funny to me.
Re: content drought - I'm feeling it
But, they're more than entitled to a break, so I'm not really complaining. I do miss the daily uploads though!
Re: stalkers - Since no one currently knows where in London Dan and Phil are living (which is a great thing obvs), I would assume that most people who bump into them on the streets of London probably aren't stalking them the way they likely were when dnp were living at the old flat. Aside from airport stalking, I think it's likely that since moving to the new flat most fan encounters have been genuine and haven't involved deliberate stalking. At least, I hope so!
Re: potential tour content drought - I'd love if Phil started using lessamazingphil the way he did in 2014/2015, and started uploading little vloggy snippets again, like 'Phil vs Praying Mantis' and 'Dan Tries Caviar'. If they did that semi-frequently while on tour it could be a great way to keep us in the loop without them having to vlog whole days, and they'd be quick to edit/upload if they're short on time. I also hope they'll pre-film some stuff this time, as I can't survive April-September with no uploads to the gaming channel. I think we're in for an interesting year, that's gonna be a lot less laid-back than 2017 was. I'm intrigued/trepidatious as to how they're gonna handle it.

susan2 wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 12:35 amThat's one of the things I'm most curious about too - that and also how much the performance will truly differ from show to show.
I've just been re-watching, to refresh my memory, what they said about this when they were asked23:07 - will it be scripted the same for every one?
- "what script" "no"
- "it's going to have a loose plan"
- "it's not going to be a sketch"
- "there are going to be some little planned bits, but like one of my videos it's going to be more bullet points "
- "the whole point of this Interactive Introverts concept is that it's completely in your hands within the fun ideas/framework we have planned"
Honestly, I'm curious because (and primarily because) if they went for free rein and people could submit whatever they wanted like PINOF - can you even imagine? I'm curious to how the interactivity will work out because I'm in the second-to-front row and therefore if they were picking people out wouldn't I be more likely to be involved than someone who is sat up in the Gods? (and i'd already be involved because I have M&G tickets) Or would they do that thing that Derren Brown does with a frisbee? So im assuming it would be picked out beforehand like some of the sections of TATINOF; and therefore would be mediated via prompts and anything too ridiculous (asking them to play the National Anthem of whatever country they are in on harmonica) or too personal (

I'm almost positive they'll do it like they did tatinof, and the interactivity will be all submitted beforehand; maybe they'll have ways online or maybe it'll all be at the venue. But I don't for a second think that they're gonna make it so that people have the ability to say anything they want uninterrupted during the show.sparkle wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 1:27 am Honestly, I'm curious because (and primarily because) if they went for free rein and people could submit whatever they wanted like PINOF - can you even imagine? I'm curious - because I dont quite know what to expect with the word 'Interactive'. And tbh, they haven't really given us much to go on. If its unscripted, I'm assuming there are sections and a definitive opening and closing sequence. Maybe they'll get people on stage, or maybe they'll be a voting system in place with pre-determined options?

I feel bad bc i would love to meet deppy. my ideal interaction would be a good (somewhat) indepth conversation with them but since i'm an incredibly awkward bean with social and general anxiety that would probably never happen. also i live nowhere near london, i live in the us..so. eh. i'd also love to meet jack, whether it be through a convention or just miraculously run into him but, he lives in brighton so..chances of that happening are slim to none

Agreed. There's no way they'll allow for the chance for people to shout out whatever they want during the show. That would just be a screaming mess (I mean, it will be anyway) and you wouldn't even be able to hear the boys at all on stage. D&P are in so much control of everything they do - there will be a plan, and any interaction will have a chance to be moderated first. I'm really intrigued to know exactly how they will do it though. I hope it's slightly less staged than tatinof, and I think it will be. There will still be a structure, but I think there will be less of a rigid storyline and more opportunities for interaction and improv. Just, knowing these boys, they have hard personal lines and need for control (anxiety, etc), and will not allow it to be too freeform. I hope people are original and we get to see lots of new content at each show (I noticed there was quite a bit of recycled "improv" content during tatinof based on reviews), and I also hope that people are able to at least sneakily film the shows. They're so much more open and themselves than they were even a year or two ago during tatinof that I feel confident there will be lots of great moments from them during tour.alittledizzy wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 1:33 amI'm almost positive they'll do it like they did tatinof, and the interactivity will be all submitted beforehand; maybe they'll have ways online or maybe it'll all be at the venue. Can anything be worse than Hello World?
I feel you. I said earlier that I wouldn't want to meet deppy in the streets or for a quick selfie or whatever. But I will embarrassingly admit that I sometimes think up highly unlikely situations where I meet singers/youtubers/etc that I like completely organically (like, if we had a mutual friend or they knew my relatives or something and we ended up hanging out at the same house), and had a casual conversation. Which would never happen, but that's the one way I would be cool with meeting a 'famous' person - but I'd still be completely awkward anyways since that's just my status quo but ehSkylar wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 1:42 am I feel bad bc i would love to meet deppy. my ideal interaction would be a good (somewhat) indepth conversation with them but since i'm an incredibly awkward bean with social and general anxiety that would probably never happen. also i live nowhere near london, i live in the us..so. eh.

It took me a while to catch up on deppy vids and on idb after taking a few days of for family around Christmas so as not to make a detailed post with every single topic discussed since I last was active that I would like to comment on I'll ramble on about meeting them irl:
My country is on the TBC list and even if it's confirmed it will be a long shot because I have no job atm and it will probably happen on a city that's a 9 hour drive from where I live so the chances of meeting them are very slim.
I used to think like a lot of you guys about if I'd ever see them in the street I'd choose to pretend to not know them but thinking twice it's like... I would have any awkward conversation or small talk if it meant I would be able to shake hands or hug them and maybe even have a photo as a memento, even if it's a 15 seconds interaction, they are such a big part of my life, bringing me smiles when I most need them and I care for them so much that bumping into them would be like a dream and I'd make good use of the opportunity to thank them.
That being said I don't think stalking them(or any artist/famous person) is cool, or bothering them if they are with friends/family/eating/busy etc; like: I care about them, their comfort comes before any need I might have to say hi (I really understand the temptation but nothing justifies it).
But yeah, I would just love the chance of seeing for myself if they are in fact real up close and to say thanks

I'm seeing TIIT (lol) next year, and I'm a little weary on the lack of information we've gotten thus far. I know if it is ad-libbed there isn't all that much they can share, but how much information did we get on TATINOF when they were prepping to tour? If it was anyone other than them I don't think I could defend the price I paid for tickets for not even knowing what the "show" is??? I have faith that I'll enjoy it, anything the boys put their heart and enthusiasm in is usually worthwhile. I'm more concerned about seeing it with my mom… bring on the second-hand embarrassment.
Also I don't have a desire to meet them? I met Dodie this summer in London and mildly(!) freaked out, but I know if I were to get too close to deppy I would be a mess. (and something about being one face in millions freaks me out…) A shared theater is close enough lol.

On the ii tour: I don't doubt that basically all of the interaction will be done beforehand. I mean, not to bag on crazed shippers because I'm still a demon phannie, but there's no way they would be able to avoid the people who would just scream out that they should have sex on stage or something. Plus, it'd be basically impossible for anything to be heard. At tatinof (from what I could tell), there was just a general mess of noise with no actual discernible sentences.
On meeting them: I mean, I've paid to queue up and meet them, but I'd be honestly far too terrified of approaching them if I just randomly bumped into them. I feel like I'd have nothing good to say to them, like at least when I'm in line I can plan something that's not basically "ohmygodcanihaveaselfiethankyoubye"
